Troop 397 Sponsor

The Kearney Lion’s Club has been in existence since 1950 and has
been a vital part of the community.
The Lions Motto is: We
Serve
The Kearney Lion’s are proud sponsors of Boy Scout Troop 397 and
serve the local community in many different ways. Examples of our
support are; hosting the Halloween Party for children (started 50
years ago), provide the Robert G. Pence Memorial Scholarship which
goes to a Kearney High School Graduate each year, plaques are
provided for the Outstanding Boy and Outstanding Girl senior
students at Kearney High School as chosen by the school
administration, donate food, provide money and school supplies to
local food banks, collect used eyeglasses which are recycled
throughout the world, work with the City of Kearney to host the July
3rd Fireworks Celebration, donated land for Lion’s Park
in Kearney, donate money and toys to Holt Holiday Helpers annually
and sponsor a Band student to attend an International Band Camp.
Annually within the community the Lion’s host a Pancake Breakfast,
the first Saturday in February, where we offer free glucose
screenings. May is the month we have a Broom Sale, July we co-host
with the City of Kearney to provide the Fireworks Display, September
we enter a float in the Jesse James Parade and host the “Jesse James
Showdown” Mud Run in late September, October the Halloween Party for
children, November a Citrus Fruit Sale and December we provide a
“Visit From Santa” (by appointment).
There are other projects the Kearney Lion’s sponsor.
